Oasis is one of the few women's counseling centers in the state, providing services to women throughout the life span, from the very young to the very wise.
Oasis’ core mission is designed for women who are encountering obstacles in their lives either because of challenging circumstances or normal life transitions. Oasis’ staff includes a clinical psychologist, licensed professional counselors, a licensed social worker, a registered play therapist, and a bi-lingual therapist.
Oasis provides individual, couples, group, and family counseling, as well as play therapy. Fees are determined on the basis of a sliding fee scale which begins at just $10 per session. MEET THE COUNSELING & PROGRAM STAFF
Julianne Venable, Clinical Director of Oasis, has a Master's and a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the New School for Social Research in New York. She has worked in Community Mental Health Centers and had a private practice for 15 years. Her interests are in Women's Issues, particularly those of Elderly Women, Transition and Loss and Coping with Chronic Health Problems.
Kelly Cousette is an Associate Licensed Counselor under the supervision of Ingrid Ciucevich, M. A., LPC. She holds a Master's Degree in Counseling and a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology, both from the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB). Kelly conducts individual counseling, facilitates support groups and provides education and outreach on mental health to churches and other community locations for the WholeHealth Program. Kelly is also certified in Clinical Hypnosis and Rapid Trauma Resolution.
Ellen Falkenberry is a Licensed Professional Counselor with a Master’s Degree in Agency Counseling from the University of Montevallo and a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology from Jacksonville State University. Ellen specializes in family therapy, anger and/or mood management, self-injurious behavior, and trauma / abuse issues.
Anne-Marie Griffin is an Associate Licensed Counselor under the supervision of Lucy Magnus, M. A., LPC, Jungian Analyst. She received her Master’s Degree in Counseling from the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB). Anne-Marie conducts individual sessions with women and provides education and outreach on such topics as depression, stress management, domestic violence, and issues related to the body-image concerns of teenage girls. Anne-Marie has received continuing education in dream work, the feminine psyche, and self-mutilation.
Anna Orcutt is a National Certified Counselor and Associate Licensed Counselor under the supervision of Ingrid Ciucevich, M. A., LPC. She received her Master’s Degree in Counseling and Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology, both from the University of Montevallo. Anna conducts individual sessions with women and adolescent girls. She specializes in working with rape trauma and created the Healing from Rape support group at Oasis.
Knight Sauls is a Licensed Professional Counselor and a Registered Play therapist. She has a Master's Degree in Counseling from the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) and a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology from the University of the South. Knight specializes in play therapy with a focus on childhood problems such as sexual/physical abuse, trauma due to witnessing domestic violence, anxiety, attachment disorders and anger management. Knight served as past Director for the Alabama Association of Play Therapy.
