Join the Junior Board of Oasis Counseling Thursday, June 13 from 5:30–8:30 p.m. for the second annual ArtCard: Porch Party and Blind Art Sale. The evening will feature live music from Cooper Trent, food from our presenting sponsor, Café Iz, wine, beer and a blind art sale — meaning artists’ names will be hidden until after purchase — of 8-by-10-inch “ArtCards” created by local artists, celebrities and children. All pieces of art will be sold for $50. Tickets to ArtCard are $25. Purchase tickets now.

Last year, more than 200 people attended the inaugural ArtCard, purchasing more than 100 pieces of art and raising nearly $14,000 for Oasis.

Proceeds from ticket and art sales benefit Oasis Counseling Center, whose mission is to help women and children heal, grow and overcome difficult life challenges by providing affordable mental health counseling and innovative education programs in a respectful and nurturing environment.

According to the Kaiser Family Foundation, nearly four out of five women in Alabama live in a designated mental health professional shortage area, compared with 42 percent nationally. Oasis was founded in 1995 to help alleviate that disparity in the Birmingham area.
