Oasis’ clients are struggling to overcome difficult life challenges – including
depression, domestic violence, divorce, grief, anxiety, and post-traumatic stress
disorder. Clients initiate contact with Oasis, and often are referred from doctors,
nurses and other community agencies.

“Toys are like the child’s words and play is the
child’s language.”

Play Therapy

Play is the language of children and is the best and probably only way they can truly
heal. Young children, ages 3-12, often have great difficulty processing traumatic
events through talking.

Most Common Problems Among Children:

  • Parental divorce, grief issues, school adjustment, etc.
  • Relational Problems
  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • ADHD

Mimie Player, a Licensed Professional Counselor with eight years of specialized
training in Play Therapy, provides counseling services to the boys and girls we serve
at Oasis. Play Therapy sessions are conducted in a child-friendly play room equipped
with clay, paint, puppets, sand trays, dolls, action figures and dress up costumes
which are conducive to self expression in a safe and non-judgmental environment.
